The Marshall Municipal Utilities Board of Public Works approved two separate bids during a regular-session meeting on Thursday, February 16.
One of the bids accepted was for the annual well maintenance project. Environmental Services Director Ginny Ismay recommended a low-bid from Layne Water Management, of Kansas City, in the amount of $35,105 and another from Douglas Pump Service, of Overland Park, Kansas, for $36,035.
Ismay explains what maintenance work is to be done and how the all the bid prices could increase.
After discussion, the board approved the bid from Layne Water Management.
The first bid was for the purchase of mounted hydraulic breaker for a backhoe. The board received a bid from Martin Equipment, of Ashland, for $13,300 and a bid from The G.W. Van Keppel Company, of Kansas City, for $12,480.
During a discussion, the board determined the lower bid for the equipment didn’t meet the specifications of what was required. So, the board approved the bid from Martin Equipment.
