Marshall High School and Bueker Middle School student athletes will get a jump start on their respective sports seasons for the 2017-18 academic year, thanks to free sports physicals being offered on Monday, March 8.

According to a news release, the physicals will be provided by the physicians and staff of Fitzgibbon Hospital, Marshall Family Practice, Fitzgibbon Chiropractic and Marshall Orthopedic and Sports Medicine.

This is the third year Fitzgibbon Hospital has provided sports physicals, an event coordinated by Diane Schlesselman, Certified Athletic Trainer for the Marshall School District. Schlesselman is employed by Fitzgibbon Hospital and is based at Marshall High School as a service to the community.

The Missouri High School Athletics Association requires an annual physical to be on file for each student athlete, ensuring that the student has been medically cleared to participate. Some students may not participate if the cost of obtaining a physical from a doctor’s office is prohibitive.

The event is free to all student-athletes at Marshall High School and Bueker Middle School. The event will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the MHS commons and gymnasium area. BMS students are asked to arrive at 3 p.m., if possible, in an effort to spread out the number of attendees.
