Earlier this month, a grand jury indicted a Belton woman, and she is due in an area courtroom today.

According to a probable-cause statement filed by an officer with the Sedalia Police Department with the Pettis County Circuit Court, two women reportedly entered Walmart Supercenter in Sedalia on August 30, 2016, and allegedly passed fictitious checks to pay for items that totaled over $11,000.

After a thorough investigation, which included studying Facebook accounts and lists of friends and information from other law-enforcement agencies, it was determined one of the women was Crystal M. Austin.

According to the statement, Austin has five prior convictions for Burglary in the Second Degree, five prior convictions for Forgery and two for felony stealing. She also reportedly has two active warrants out for her arrest, including a felony, in Bates County for Fraud-Insufficient Funds for a Check written for More than $500.

On this incident in Pettis County, according to online court documents, Austin has been charged with a Class B Felony for Burglary in the First Degree and a Class C Felony for Receiving Stolen Property.

Austin is scheduled to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. in Pettis County Circuit Court in Sedalia.
