PRAIRIE HOME RESIDENT CHARGED WITH FELONY FOR ALLEGED FORGERY

A Prairie Home resident has been charged with a felony for allegedly trying to use fake bills to make a purchase last month in Cooper County.

A probable-cause statement says 18-year-old Caleb Michael Johnson allegedly attempted to purchase items using five counterfeit $5 bills at Lucky Eagle Stop at 205 Morgan Street in Boonville on November 19. The bills reportedly had a matching serial number on them. Johnson reportedly fled on foot when told about the bills. He reportedly was identified by an employee at the store.

Online court documents say a warrant has been issued, and Johnson has been charged with a Class D Felony for Forgery. Bond has been set at $5,000.

Johnson’s initial hearing date at Cooper County Circuit Court in Boonville is pending.
