The number of days Peggy McGaugh will continue to serve as Carroll County Clerk are down to a few.
According to a news release, she has submitted a formal letter to Governor Eric Greitens.
The letter reads, in part: “In accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and Revised Statutes of the State of Missouri, I write you this letter to inform you that I am resigning my position as Carroll County Clerk, effective at 11:59 p.m. on February 25, 2018.”
McGaugh, who served nearly six four-year terms as county clerk, is scheduled to be administered the Oath of Office as the next Representative in the 39th District of the House of Representatives on Monday, February 26.
McGaugh won a special election on February 6 to fill out the unexpired term– which runs through December 31, 2018– of her son, Joe Don McGaugh. Joe Don McGaugh was appointed by Governor Greitens to be the Associate Circuit Judge in Carroll County in October and started serving in November 2017.
