A Sedalia man whose vehicle allegedly ran into the side of the building of a business– and he later left the scene in that vehicle– has been charged with a felony.
According to a probable-cause statement, a vehicle, driven by 19-year-old Bryan Lauer, rolled over the yellow parking curb and struck the west side of the Family Pawn building in the 2800 block of West Broadway Boulevard on April 20. Once a person inside the store told Lauer he was going to call the police, Lauer left the scene. A law-enforcement officer verified the suspect by watching surveillance video.
Damage to the building has been estimated at $2,000 to $5,000.
According to online court documents, a warrant has been requested, and Lauer has been charged with a Class E Felony for Leaving the Scene of an Accident- Property Damage Exceeding $1,000.
Lauer’s initial appearance at Pettis County Circuit Court is pending.
