A 22-year-old Sedalia woman is facing a felony charge for allegedly being in possession of a controlled substance after authorities responded to the report of a disturbance and shots allegedly being fired at Hubbard Park just after 9 p.m. on Sunday, May 13.
According to a release from the police department, officers made contact with several individuals at the scene who said someone had fired a gun several times. A vehicle arrived at the scene, and witnesses told authorities a person in the vehicle was the shooter, and the suspect was found to be in possession of crack cocaine. The suspect was arrested and transported to the Pettis County Jail.
No injuries were reported from the location of the incident.
Online court documents say a warrant has been issued and Shania Irene Claxton has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoid. Bond has been set at $5,000 cash or surety, with special unspecified conditions. Formal charges have not been filed on the alleged shooting incident.
Claxton’s initial hearing at Pettis County Circuit Court is pending.
