A Lafayette County food pantry’s original location was destroyed by a fire earlier this year, but it is set to re-open at a new location on Saturday, June 9.
According to a news release, the Shepherd’s Food Pantry is scheduled to re-open at the old fire station at 608 Main Street in Waverly. The pantry is scheduled be open from 9:30 a.m. to noon every Saturday, except the last one of each month, beginning June 9 and continuing throughout the year.
Patrons will be served a prepared box of food based on family size and are asked not to show up early due to the lack of parking. Also, patrons are asked to not park in front of the fire station as they will be severed from their vehicles and signs will direct traffic flow. Patrons also can bring utility bills, excluding cable or phone bills, if it’s a part of their rent payment and need to bring a receipt from a landlord to verify.
