A Sedalia man has been charged with a felony for an alleged domestic assault incident on Monday, July 9, in Pettis County.
A probable-cause statement says Sedalia Police officer spoke with a female victim who stated she was assaulted by 29-year-old Stephen Lappat at a residence in the 1000 block of West 3rd Street. The victim said Lappat pulled her hair, choked her, twisted her arm and bit her on the lip during an argument. The officers noticed the victim had bruising on her arms and a cut on her lip.
Officer contacted Lappat who stated the victim attacked him and he was defending himself. Officers noticed Lappat had no signs of injuries.
Online court documents say Lappat has been charged with a Class E Felony for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree. Bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety.
Lappat’s initial hearing at Pettis County Circuit Court is pending.
