A Clinton woman who is facing multiple felony charges for her alleged involvement in helping a man sell a controlled substance out of her house, where a Clinton Police officer was shot to death earlier this year, is due in court Monday, July 23.
According to a probable-cause statement, officer Christopher Ryan Morton was shot and killed by James Waters at the residence on March 6. Two other officers were wounded during the shootout, and Waters later was found dead inside the residence. Before the shooting incident occurred, 37-year-old Tammy Widger reportedly told authorities– who were there to investigate the report of a disturbance– there was not a problem, and nobody else was inside the residence.
During her interview, Widger reportedly told authorities that she was assisting Waters with distribution of methamphetamine in exchange for him paying her bills.
Online court documents say Widger has been charged with a Class A Felony for Murder in the First Degree; two counts of a Class A Felony for Assault in the First Degree- Causing Serious Physical Injury to a Special Victim; a Class C Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana; and a Class E Felony for Keeping or Maintaining a Public Nuisance.
Widger’s arraignment hearing is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at Henry County Circuit Court.
