More positive cases of COVID-19 were reported in area counties, but the active case count dropped in those counties over the weekend.

According to the Saline County Health Department’s Dashboard, 11 new positive cases were confirmed, raising the overall total to 2,513 since the beginning of the pandemic. However, the number of cases now deemed inactive raised by 42 to 2,341. With 49 deaths and 2,341 recoveries, there are 123 active cases in the county.

In Chariton County, three new positive cases and six recoveries were added to the respective totals. In all, there have been 754 positive cases in the county. Due to 683 previously-positive cases being released from public health isolation as recovered and 16 COVID-19-related deaths, there are 55 active cases in the county.

Updates were not available from Carroll, Cooper, Howard, Lafayette and Pettis Counties.
