An area man facing an attempted murder charge is due in court later this month.

According to a Boonville Police report, at approximately 8:53 p.m. on January 3, officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Main Street for the report of shots fired. The suspect was identified as 27-year-old Kalynn Dean Hendren.

Upon arrival, contact was made with an alleged victim, who stated Hendren pointed a rifle at her, approximately three inches from her face, and stated “I’ll kill you, I’ll kill you. I’m going to kill everybody in this house.” At one point, the woman said she believed she was on her knees and had just gotten the barrel away from her head when Hendren said again “I’m going to kill you” and fired one round from the rifle.

Officers found the spent shell casing, and the bullet fragment was found behind a framed picture hanging on the wall of the living room.

According to court documents, Hendren is charged with Class B Felonies for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree and Domestic Assault in the First Degree; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. Bond is set at $500,000 cash or surety.

Hendren entered a plea of not guilty during his arraignment hearing on Wednesday, January 6. His next hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, January 26, at Cooper County Circuit Court.
