Marshall firefighters were toned out on Tuesday, January 19, to put out a flue fire.

According to a fire-department spokesperson, the call came in at 6:03 p.m., and firemen arrived on the scene in the 100 block of Ridge Crest Road at 6:04 p.m.

Upon arrival, firefighters noted smoke coming from the chimney. During the investigation, there was a small flue fire that was extinguished with a chain and a chemical bomb- which the spokesperson said is a plastic bag full of ABC powder that spreads out and puts out the fire.

Firemen advised the owner to have the chimney inspected professionally before its next usage.

Firefighters were back in quarters at 6:50 p.m.

There were no injuries reported from the scene.

The spokesperson said there was no real damage to the structure. However, there could be damage to the flue.
