One more COVID-19-related death was reported in two area counties on Tuesday, January 19.

According to health-department officials, a death raises the total to 17 in Chariton County since the beginning of the pandemic. In addition, 10 new positive cases increased its total to 764. With 693 recoveries and 17 deaths, there are 54 active cases in the county.

Howard County officials reported one more COVID-19-related death to make its total five. Also, 14 new positive cases make the county’s total 996. Due to five deaths and 953 recoveries, there are 38 active cases in the county.

Thirteen more positive cases were confirmed in Saline County over the past couple of days, but the active case count dropped. According to the Saline County Health Department’s COVID-19 Dashboard, the total of positive cases is now 2,516. Due to 49 deaths and 2,361 previously-positive cases now deemed inactive, there are 116 active cases in the county, down from 123 on Sunday, January 17.

In Pettis County, 17 new positive cases were added since last reported on Friday, January 15. The county has had 4,609 total positive cases since the beginning of the pandemic. A full report was not available.
