With the weather becoming more conducive to outside activity, an area police department wants the residents of its city to be aware of an ordinance involving the use of ATVs, UTVs and golf carts on the city streets.
According to a post on the Carrollton Police Department’s Facebook page, you must have or do in order to operate an ATV, UTV or Golf Cart on city streets:
– Have a permit from the town. You can get these at city hall during business hours.
– You must have a valid driver’s license.
– You may not exceed the posted speed limit, but must also remain below 30 mph.
– Must have a slow-moving vehicle emblem and a bicycle safety flag that is dayglow in color, triangular in shape, has an area of not less than 30 square inches, and must extend seven feet above the ground.
– If you are under the age of 18, you must wear a helmet.
– You may only carry the same number of passengers as you have seats.
– You must follow all traffic laws and ordinances.
If you have any questions, you are urged to call the Carrollton Police Department. Here is a link to the ordinance: https://ecode360.com/31008255.
