A Clinton man is facing several felony charges for allegedly stealing firearms during a burglary incident earlier this month in Pettis County.
A probable-cause statement says on August 9, the Pettis County Sheriff’s Office received information from the Clinton Police Department regarding the arrest of 20-year-old Harley Lloyd Nesbitt, who reportedly was arrested for stealing a vehicle and then admitted to authorities he committed a burglary in Pettis County on August 7.
During an interview, Nesbitt reportedly told authorities he drove the stolen vehicle to a rural residence in Pettis County that “looked nice and had no vehicles parked in the driveway”. Nebsitt added he entered the home and stole three firearms. The stolen firearms reportedly were found in the stolen vehicle during Nesbitt’s arrest.
Online court documents says Nesbitt has been charged with a Class B Felony for First-Degree Burglary and Class D Felonies for Tampering with a Motor Vehicle in the First Degree and Stealing of a Firearm. Bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety.
Nesbitt’s initial hearing at Pettis County Circuit Court is pending.
