UPDATE 10 a.m. Monday, October 8: According to a Pettis County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson on Monday, October 8, the findings of the department’s investigation have been turned over to the prosecuting attorney’s office for its review. No formal charges have been field at this time.
 
Pettis County authorities are investigating after receiving an allegation of possible child abuse involving a Sedalia Police officer.
According to a spokesperson at the Pettis County Sheriff’s office, a complaint has been made, but he cannot comment on the specifics of an ongoing investigation.
Sedalia Police Chief Matthew Wirt says his office is aware of the allegation.

Wirt pointed out the sheriff’s office is investigating to see if something criminal did happen.
