A court proceeding for a Slater man who has been charged with multiple felonies relating to a reported domestic disturbance and standoff with law enforcement on May 28, 2017, is set for next week.
According to online court documents, Charles Townsend Jr., who is now 31, has been charged with two counts of Class A Felony for Assault or Attempted Assault in the First Degree, Causing Serious Physical Injury or Special Victim; a Class B Felony for Assault or Attempted Assault in the First Degree; Class E Felonies for Domestic Assault in the Third Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Exhibiting and Resisting or Interfering with an Arrest for a Felony; and three counts of an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action.
Court documents also say Townsend entered a plea of not guilty during his arraignment hearing on July 24, 2017. A pre-trial conference in the matter is scheduled to be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 9. Townsend’s case is set for a three-day jury trial beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 24.
