Two North Carolina residents are facing drug-related charges in Cooper County after authorities say they found multiple drug-related items in their vehicle which crashed on I-70 on September 3.
A probable-cause statement says when authorities searched their truck, they say they found three baggies containing a white substance that the driver- 21-year-old Daniel Hinton- identified as cocaine in the glove compartment. In the truck bed, they found two trash bags containing 10 vacuum-sealed bags of marijuana, a bag of mushrooms and another bag of yellowish wax. In the back seat, the search revealed another vacuum-sealed bag of marijuana, bags of hash, 19 containers and packages with labels indicating “THC,” as well as receipts indicating cash purchases.
According to online court documents, Hinton and 17-year-old Lauren Pedeliski each has been charged with two counts of a Class C Felony for Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoid and one count of a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance, Except 35 Grams or Less of Marijuana or Synthetic Cannabinoid. Hinton reportedly posted $22,500 surety bond. There is nothing mentioned about bond for Pedeliski in the report nor court documents.
The initial hearing for each subject is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
