A Warsaw man died and two other Warsaw residents sustained moderate injuries in a head-on traffic crash in Benton County on Thursday.
A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as a northbound vehicle, driven by 78-year-old Donald Evans, reportedly failed to negotiate a right curve and traveled into the southbound lane. The driver of a southbound vehicle, 56-year-old Larry Roberts, reportedly attempted to travel off the right side of the roadway to avoid the collision but couldn’t.
Evans was pronounced deceased at the scene by Benton County Coroner Weston Miller. Roberts and a passenger in his vehicle- 80-year-old Doris Roberts- were transported by Warsaw-Lincoln E.M.S. to Bothwell Hospital in Sedalia for treatment. Nobody in either vehicle reportedly was wearing a seat belt.
The crash happened just after 10:30 a.m. on Route MM, north of Ironwood Avenue.
