A Sweet Springs resident has been charged with a drug-related felony after a controlled substance allegedly was found in his vehicle following a traffic stop on October 12 in Carroll County.
A probable-cause statement says 20-year-old Gabriel Michael Cox consented to a search, and the officer says he found a glass jar containing a white powdery substance, which field tested to be cocaine. Cox reportedly said he had purchased the cocaine- which weighed 54.3 grams- for $2,000 in Kansas City, and he planned on delivering it to a Higginsville resident. Cox also reportedly was in possession of nearly $700.
According to online court documents, Cox has been charged with a Class A Felony for Trafficking Drugs or Attempt in the First Degree. Bond has been fixed at $50,000 cash only- no 10-percent allowed.
Cox’s initial hearing at Carroll County Circuit Court is pending.
