During the meeting of the Marshall City Council on Monday, October 15, the council gave its OK to a couple of annual ordinances involving community organizations.
The first is an ordinance authorizing and directing the mayor to execute a contract between the city and the Marshall Community Chorus for the provision of concerts in the city. The contract is for $4,000.
The other is an ordinance directing the mayor to execute a contract between the city and the Marshall Philharmonic Orchestra for the provision of concerts to be held in Marshall. The contract is for $9,000.
In addition, the council voted to approve the transfer of Ricketts Farm Service property to the city for $85,000.
Each of those proposals received approval of two readings.
Another ordinance involving the city’s annual payment of $25,000 to the Marshall-Saline Development Corporation for the provision of economic development services was not approved at this meeting. The first reading was approved, but the council wants more time and will need to approve it a second time before the ordinance, which calls for the city to pay MSDC $25,000 for the services, goes into effect.
