MODOT WANTS MOTORIST TO PLAN AHEAD FOR TRAVEL THIS WEEKEND DURING WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS

The Missouri Department of Transportation has some helpful tools and tips for motorists who plan to travel during the predicted winter weather storm this weekend.

According to MoDOT, motorists are urged to use caution as snow is forecasted in the area this weekend and road conditions may become slippery at times. Also, increased traffic is expected in the Kansas City area this weekend as the Chiefs host the Indianapolis Colts in a divisional round playoff game at Arrowhead Stadium on Saturday. In addition, many students will be returning to college campuses after the winter break, which means more vehicles on the road. With all this in mind, motorists should plan ahead to allow extra time to reach their destination during winter weather conditions.

MoDOT has a variety of online and mobile services to help motorist plan ahead. The Traveler Information Map, found on MoDOT’s website, displays current road conditions, work zones, traffic crashes, roadside cameras, message boards and even commuter lots. The MoDOT Traveler app, which includes the map, can be download for either Android or Apple devices.
