A Sedalia man faces a felony charge for an alleged domestic assault incident which was witnessed by a child in Pettis County on Wednesday, February 20.
A probable-cause statement says Pettis County deputies responded to the domestic disturbance in the 1300 block of East Boonville Street in Sedalia.
Deputies spoke with the victim who was noticed to have redness on both sides of her face, as well redness around her neck. The victim said she was hit in the face with an open palm several times by 32-year-old Benjamin Hinsberger. The victim added Hinsberger began to choke her to the point she couldn’t breath while continuing to hit her in the face with an open palm. The victim said Hinsberger was in an angry mood before the incident and didn’t know what “set him off”. A 4-year-old child reportedly witnessed and told deputies details about the incident.
Online court documents say Hinsberger has been charged with a Class D Felony for Domestic Assault in the Second Degree. Bond has been set at $10,000 cash or surety.
Hinsberger was formally arraigned on Thursday, February 21, and his cause was continued with a counsel status and bond reduction hearing at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 26, at Pettis County Circuit Court.
