A Cole Camp man has been charged with a felony after he allegedly led law enforcement on a high-speed pursuit in Pettis County on February 14.
According to a report from a highway patrol trooper, the pursuit began on southbound U.S. Highway 65, and the vehicle reportedly was traveling 97 miles per hour at one point. The driver- identified as 38-year-old Sean William Cunningham- also reportedly passed some vehicles, including one partially on the left shoulder, in a dangerous manner. Once on a gravel road at high speeds, the trooper discontinued the chase.
Later, the trooper was notified Cunningham was at the residence of his wife, who reportedly has a protection order against him. Law enforcement was notified Cunningham had barricaded himself in a garage and threatened to commit suicide. Once on the scene, authorities were able to negotiate with Cunningham, getting him to open the garage door. However, law enforcement had to use force to get Cunningham placed into handcuffs.
Online court documents say a warrant has been requested and Cunningham has been charged with a Class E Felony for Resisting Arrest, Stop or Detention by Fleeing and three driving-related misdemeanors. Bond has not been set yet.
Cunningham’s initial appearance is pending at Pettis County Circuit Court.
