As a precautionary measure, personnel from Central Missouri Agri-Service in Malta Bend and Waverly worked most of Sunday, March 24, and will be working part of today to help out some farmers in the area whose grain bins are located in the Missouri River bottoms.
CMAS Assistant Manager Raymond Samson says the business tries to help out every time there is a threat of flooding in the area. He said the hauling in started about 8:30 a.m. Sunday.

Samson said there are a number of people to thank with the work being done.

Samson said the work is continuing, as another farmer is scheduled to bring in 5,000 bushels of grain sometime today.
Samson said if the main levee is breached, the situation will turn into an emergency and flooding will occur in the Malta Bend/Grand Pass/Waverly area “just like (19)93.”
Samson says a close watch is being kept on the level of the water.
Local authorities anticipate the levee to be breached sometime in the afternoon hours (Monday, March 25) with mostly farm land being affected. Area residents are advised to stay away from the flooded areas.
