A Holden man suffered serious injuries in a two-vehicle traffic crash in Jackson County Tuesday.
A report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol says the crash occurred as a westbound jeep, driven by 51-year-old Douglas Smithson, reportedly struck the towed unit of a Peterbilt, driven by 46-year-old Michael Gray, of Pleasant Hill, as the truck was traveling northbound across the highway.
While Gray reportedly was not injured, Smithson- who reportedly was not wearing a seat belt- was transported by Lone Jack Fire to Research Medical Center in Kansas City for treatment.
The crash happened at 6:30 a.m. on U.S. Highway 50 at Buckner Tarsney Road.
