Just before 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2019 Norfolk Southern personnel were on the scene when tree and limb debris from upstream struck the railroad bridge at the Grand River in Brunswick. The debris busted through the railroad bridge causing extensive damage.
According to the Norfolk Southern Railroad’s website, a Service alert was issued for the Grand River Bridge at Brunswick and train service has been suspended between Moberly and Kansas City, MO due to the damage.
Norfolk Southern is working with our interline partners on detour options; however, until service is restored through Brunswick, MO, customers with traffic operating to and from Kansas City should expect a 48- to 72-hour delay.
