An area high school student who has battled long odds his entire life was honored with a special trip to see his favorite National Football League team up close and personal.
According to the Kansas City Chiefs, Smith-Cotton senior P.J. Allred, who has cerebral palsy, was provided a trip to see the Chiefs play the Oakland Raiders on Sunday, December 1. The trip was made possible in partnership with The Dream Factory.
Allred- a member of the Smith-Cotton football team who rumbled 80 yards for a touchdown during a Tiger football game earlier this season, a feat which was featured on ESPN’s SPORTSCENTER- was on the sideline prior to kickoff and met NFL Hall of Famer Bobby Bell and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
As part of the celebration, Chiefs Chairman and CEO Clark Hunt presented Allred with a giant ticket bearing the numerals “LIV.” Allred is going to be going to the Super Bowl in Miami this February.
Perhaps Allred will get to see his Chiefs play in the big game. They beat up Oakland 41-9 on his big day to improve to 8-4 and take a two-game lead in the AFC Western Division over the Raiders.
