A 50-year-old Sedalia man charged with robbing a store while wielding a deadly weapon remains in custody following his arraignment hearing.
Freddie M. Thomas allegedly entered the Casey’s Store on West 16th Street in Sedalia on January 15, 2020 and demanded the employee give him the money in the register. When the employee did not respond, the employee told authorities that Thomas pulled a hatchet from his jacket and hit the register with it. The employee then complied with Thomas’ demands and handed over the money.
Thomas has been charged with a Class A Felony for Robbery in the First Degree; a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon- Exhibiting; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action. He remains in custody after his arraignment on Thursday, January 23, with a bond set at $100,000 cash or surety.
His Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, January 28 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
