During its meeting on Thursday, February 20, the Sweet Springs R-7 School Board approved a couple of action items.
According to meeting minutes, Jim Hinson, representative from the EdCounsel, presented the board with information regarding EdCounsel’s Guide Services. The service is a five-year agreement at $9,500 for the first year and $1,500 for each subsequent year. The board approved the expenditure for the agreement.
In other news, Marc Johnson, coach of the Blazers’ Elite competitive softball team, asked the district to use its district fields and indoor facilities for practices. Johnson provided the district with a copy of liability insurance coverage; and he said he will coordinate the practices with Sweet Springs Athletic Director Tim Smith. The board voted to approve the request.
Superintendent Lori Price told the board- at the time of the meeting- the district had missed seven days of school due to inclement weather. Because the district built in the maximum amount of makeup hours into the calendar for days missed in addition to the 1,044 hours required- the district does not have to make up any of the missed days.
Price also said there will be no school March 9-13 due to Spring Break.
