A Kansas City, Kansas man charged with multiple felonies, including murder and kidnapping is scheduled to be in court on Tuesday, March 10.
Daniel Fernandez, 27, has been charged with a Class A Felony for Murder in the Second Degree; a Class D Felony for Kidnapping in the Second Degree; and an Unclassified Felony for Armed Criminal Action.
On February 22, officers with the Sedalia Police Department, responded to the 700 block of East 17th Street where they found Robert G. Fox lying in the street, dead from an apparent gunshot wound to the chest.
After an investigation, detectives were able to establish a motive and identify a suspect vehicle that later led authorities to a subject who also lived in the Kansas City, Kansas, area. By using law-enforcement investigative resources, detectives were able to track the suspect vehicle to Sedalia prior to the homicide and back to the KCK area.
With the assistance of the Career Criminal Task Force that operates in the Greater Kansas City Metro area, the suspect vehicle was located in Mission, Kansas, on February 25. Detectives from the Sedalia Criminal Investigations Bureau responded to Kansas to interview witnesses. A suspect was developed and arrested in Overland Park, Kansas.
During Fernandez’s hearing on Tuesday, March 3, it was determined that due to the State’s evidence, the serious nature of the charges, and the fact he was arrested in another state, Fernandez is to remain in custody pending trial or until it is further ordered by the court. A Hearing in Fernandez’s case is scheduled to be held at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10 at Pettis County Circuit Court.
