The Carroll County Health Department has confirmed the first positive case of COVID-19 in Carroll County.
Administrator Roberta Hartwig says the case is not travel related and the patient, a 60 year old woman, is quarantined at home.
Health Department staff are working with the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services to reach out to anyone who may have come into contact with the individual while they were infectious. Those who had close contact with the individual will be advised to self-quarantine for 14-days and will be monitored closely for development of symptoms of the virus.
The public is urged to take appropriate precautions including good hygeine, social distancing and limiting in-person interactions. If you are sick, particularly with a fever and cough, or shortness of breath, stay home and contact your healthcare provider.
Hartwig reinforces that the best tips for prevention continue to be social distancing and proper handwashing. Stay home if you are sick and avoid close contact with others to help limit the spread.
