An area city’s swimming pool will open to the public this year, but it will be a little later than usual due to COVID-19.
According to Slater City Administrator Gene Griffith, the city pool will open early next month.

Griffith said the opening is scheduled for Monday, June 1.
Griffith also said city hall is going to reopen Monday, May 11.

In other news from the city council meeting on Tuesday, May 5, Griffith said the council approved a new lead ordinance. He said the last ordinance to ban lead on piping and meters and stuff like that was approved in 1998. He said the Department of Natural Resources (DNR) did an inspection and recommended the city pass an ordinance mirroring DNR’s model.
