The number of positive COVID-19 cases confirmed in Lafayette County increased by one on Tuesday, May 12.
According to the Lafayette County Health Department, 65 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in the county.
The health department reports 33 cases have recovered, leaving 32 active cases.
Two deaths previously were reported.
Health officials say virtually every zip code in the county now has had a case.
Although most “stay-at-home” orders have expired, health officials encourage people to still avoid going out in public unless necessary, and to strictly follow all the social-distancing recommendations. In addition, they urge businesses to obey the reopening rules that their city has in place.
Also, you are encouraged to remember to protect yourself and others: Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60-percent alcohol; avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands; and stay home if you are sick.
