A 24-year-old Lone Tree, Iowa, man has been charged with felonies after a reported incident on April 30 in Lafayette County.
According to a report from the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, a deputy was dispatched to Casey’s General Store in Waverly due to concern over a patron of the store being intoxicated and citizens concerned about him driving. Lane Bertelli became combative with law-enforcement officers, hitting a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper multiple times. A Taser was deployed by a deputy twice with no effect on Bertelli. EMS was called to the scene due to the deployment of the Taser. Law-enforcement officers eventually were able to handcuff Bertelli.
Authorities found a revolver and three clear baggies containing methamphetamine inside Bertelli’s vehicle.
Bertelli has been charged with a Class D Felony for Possession of a Controlled Substance; a Class E Felony for Unlawful Use of a Weapon; and misdemeanors for Resisting Arrest and Assault in the Fourth Degree. Bond has been set at $25,000 cash or surety.
Bertelli pleaded not guilty during his arraignment on May 5. Bertelli’s next court appearance is set for 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, at Lafayette County Circuit Court.
