Assistant Superintendent Dr. Terry Lorenz gave an update on a project within the district during the Marshall School Board meeting on Tuesday, May 26.
Unofficial minutes from the meeting say Dr. Lorenz said the district has $250,000 earmarked for resurfacing the track at the high school.
Dr. Lorenz said he contacted Mike MeHaffey, of McConnell and Associates, and MeHaffey sent a proposal in the amount of $505,599, which includes track rebuild- $425,000; an alternate inside curb-$38,844; optional long-jump runways- $40,000; and an optional pole-vault box-$1,755. The board decided to put this project out for bid.
In other news, Dr. Lorenz reported maintenance personnel are moving lockers from the MHS boys locker room to the BMS boys locker room; and the new wireless system has been installed at Benton, Northwest and Eastwood Elementary Schools.
Dr. Lorenz also said the chiller at the Spainhower School stopped working, but it is under warranty.
