The Cooper County Fair Board met on Thursday, May 28, to discuss the plans for reopening the fairgrounds.
According to a news release, the board unanimously voted to reopen the fairgrounds for rental and events. The fair board continues to seek recommendations from county officials for guidelines and procedures in order to adhere to the mass-gathering recommendations published by the county.
Board members also voted to actively pursue planning an event that will showcase local youth exhibits during the 65th Annual Cooper County Fair dates of July 21-25. Committees are working to limit the number of participants at each event; modifying activities; restructuring programs; and increasing sanitization measures for the facilities and participants as Governor Mike Parson recommends.
The board says the goal always has been and will remain to be to do what is best for the youth within its community. The board will diligently continue to adjust and readjust plans based on the ever-changing COVID-19 status.
