A Marshall man facing felony charges after an alleged assault to a farm hand back in February has had his cause continued until next month.
During the morning hours of February 28, the Saline County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call in regards to an assault that had taken place on a farm facility just south of Marshall Junction where the victim reportedly suffered fractures and facial trauma as a result of the assault.
Smith has been charged with a Class B Felony for Assault in the First Degree. Smith posted 10% of his $50,000 bond on March 2, but that bond was revoked during his initial arraignment on June 3 after a urinalysis tested positive for illegal drugs.
Smith was originally scheduled to appear in court today (Wed) but after the court received the results from a second urinalysis on Tuesday and speaking with the attorneys, the Court set aside the previous order issued June 3, and reinstated the previous bond of $50,000 cash, with 10% allowed that was posted February 29, 2020.
A Preliminary Hearing in Smith’s case is scheduled to be held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 9 at Saline County Circuit Court.
