The Missouri Valley College Women’s Volleyball Team has a new Assistant Coach. Missouri Valley College Athletic Director Tom Fifer has announced that Shelby Scott has been hired to serve as Women’s Volleyball Assistant Coach and Assistant Sports Information Director.

Scott most recently served as the Director of Athletic Communications and Senior Women’s Administrator, for two years, at CMU.

Prior to her time at Central Methodist, Scott spent the 2017 season as an assistant coach on the Missouri Valley women’s volleyball staff, helping the team to its first appearance in the NAIA Women’s Volleyball National Championship. She also served as Assistant Sports Information Director during this time and also spent five years working at Wentworth (Mo.) Military Academy, where she eventually became the school’s Women’s Volleyball Head Coach, along with serving as the Director of Sports Information and Events.

“We are very excited to have Shelby back with us at Missouri Valley, and I the volleyball program,” said Women’s Volleyball Head Coach Tamika Drake. “Shelby is adding years of college coaching and recruiting experience that we will value having back in Viking purple and orange. Our setters and offense will get the increased attention and detail this season with her expertise.”

In addition to her duties at Missouri Valley, Scott will remain as the Director of Communications with the Heart of America Athletic Conference. A position she’s held since the fall of 2018. Scott was also named the Heart Sports Information Director of the Year for the 2019-20 athletic year.

“I am very excited to have Shelby join our department at Missouri Valley,” said Assistant Athletic Director of Sports Information Andy Pulverenti. “Shelby has an award-winning background, and brings a tremendous amount of experience and insight. I am looking forward to working together and improving our coverage of Viking athletics.”

Scott played volleyball at Missouri Valley, and graduated in 2014. Her husband, Andre Scott, is entering his third season as Women’s Basketball Head Coach.
