University of Missouri extension and announced the Johnson County 2020 Century Farms.
A news release says the Century Farm program began as recognition of 100-plus-year farms during the Centennial Farm Program held in Missouri during the American Revolution Bicentennial Year of 1976. In that program, 2,850 Missouri farm owners in 105 of Missouri’s 114 counties were recognized as owning a centennial farm.
Johnson County’s 2020 Century Farm families include: the Glenn and Wanda Brooks Farm on Northwest 850 Road in Holden; the Leslie and Denise Brooks Farm on Northwest 850 Road in Holden; the James and Patricia Grainger Farm on Southwest 200 Road in Centerview; and Haun Farms on Southwest 1001 Road in Holden.
All family farms will be recognized at an upcoming University of Missouri Extension-Johnson County event.
Applications for 2021 Century Farms will be available beginning February 1, 2021.
