Bond has been set at $50,000 cash or surety for a 34-year-old Lake Hiawatha, New Jersey, man for allegedly being in possession of nearly 100 pounds of a controlled substance during a traffic stop on August 12 on I-70 in Cooper County.

According to a report from a Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper, during a consented search of the vehicle, the trooper says he found bundles of a plant material recognized as marijuana. The marijuana weighed approximately 90 pounds. David Cheng was arrested and transported to the Cooper County Detention Center.

Cheng has been charged with a Class C Felony for Trafficking Drugs in the Second Degree and a driving-related misdemeanor.

Cheng’s initial hearing is pending at Cooper County Circuit Court.
