Austin Dorman, son of Joey and Tracy Dorman, of Wright City, is the exhibitor of the 2020 Grand Champion Steer at the Missouri State Fair Youth Livestock Show in Sedalia. Dorman is a member of the Wright City FFA Chapter. His prize-winning Crossbred Steer weighed 1,310 pounds.

The Reserve Grand Champion Steer honor went to Gage Baker, of Fulton. He is the son of Rhad and Leah Baker and is a member of the Rising Sun 4-H Club. Baker’s Crossbred Steer weighed 1,325 pounds.

On Saturday, August 22, both Dorman and Baker will sell their steers in two of 11 lots offered during the Missouri State Fair Sale of Champions, which begins at 1:30 p.m. in the Lowell Mohler Assembly Hall. The entire auction will be broadcast live by KMMO radio online.

Proceeds from the annual sale will benefit both the winning exhibitors and the Missouri State Fair Youth in Agriculture (YIA) Scholarship Program.

Through the generous support of YIA sponsors and the Missouri State Fair Foundation, the Missouri State Fair is able to award scholarships each year to Missouri youth. Last year, 25 $1,500 scholarships, one supreme $2,500 scholarship, and one $5,000 platinum scholarship were awarded to youth across Missouri. Since 1992, the YIA committee has awarded $729,000 in scholarships.
