Some area counties gave updates on COVID-19 cases during the Labor Day holiday weekend.

According to health-department officials, the Chariton County Health Center has announced that three of the active cases of COVID-19 in the county have been released from public health isolation. So, with 29 of the 53 positive cases recovered, there are 24 active cases.

Two new positive cases were added in Carroll County, raising its overall total to 101 since the beginning of the pandemic. With 94 patients recovered, there are seven active cases.

Three more positive cases were confirmed, however four were removed from the active-case list in Howard County. In all, there have been 195 positive cases. With one death and 123 recoveries, there are 71 active cases, including one person hospitalized.

In Cooper County, an additional two new positive cases were reported, increasing the county’s total to 252. With three deaths and 206 recoveries, there are 43 active cases. Eleven cases are travel related and 241 through community transmission. Of the 117 total congregate-living cases, 79 are inmates and 38 employees. Thirteen positive cases are in nursing and/or assisted-living homes.

The last updates from Saline, Lafayette and Pettis Counties were available on Friday, September 4.

In Saline County, the overall total was 586 positive cases. With 503 positive patients recovered and nine deaths, there were 74 active cases, including four persons hospitalized, at that time.

Pettis County’s overall total was 799. With 680 positive patients recovered and nine deaths, there were 110 active cases, including two persons hospitalized.

In Lafayette County, its total was 260. With three deaths and 209 recoveries, there were 48 active cases.
