Marshall Municipal Utilities General Manager Jeff Bergstrom was on hand for the city council meeting on Tuesday, September 8. He asked the council to approve an ordinance for MMU’s budget for the 2020-21 fiscal year.

Bergstrom said a big caveat is that the proposed budget reflects no rate changes.

Ward 2 Councilman Kirk Arends pointed out the rates actually are cheaper than they once were.

Bergstrom also pointed out a couple of the bigger projects in the proposed budget.

Bergstrom answered several questions posed by council members, as well.

This fiscal year ends on September 30. The new fiscal year begins on October 1.

The council approved the first reading of the ordinance. The second reading will be during a future council meeting.
