Slater’s Keegan Zdybel scored on a 14 yard run early in the game and much later reached the end zone with a 44 yard fourth quarter romp in addition to doing plenty of damage in between as Slater went on the road and stopped Fayette 42-26 Friday night in KMMO’s Game of the Week matchup.

It turned out to be quite a memorable night for Zdybel as he scored a total of five touchdowns in a variety of ways.

The Wildcats never trailed as they always came up with a big play whenever it looked like the Falcons were about to go in front.

Fayette repeated cut Slater’s lead to one, two and three points throughout the evening only to see the Wildcats suddenly grab back the momentum.

Slater led 7-6 after one quarter, 21-12 at the half and then 35-26 in the third quarter before they iced the contest in the final frame.

Besides scoring in conventional fashion, Zdybel also found the goal line after an 85-yard interception return, an 83-yard kickoff return and a 75-yard run back of a fumble recovery.

The Falcons’ Ben Wells had three TD passes on the night, 23-yarders to both Zach Henderson and Kaden Polson as well as a one yard toss to Logan Wiswall.

Fayette’s final score came after a 53-yard scoring run by Garren Vroman as they amassed over 400 yards of total offense in the loss.

For Slater it was a win which saw them never complete a pass all night in addition to never having an offensive snap of the ball from scrimmage the entire third period.

The Wildcats are now 2-0 and will play at Skyline next week while Fayette fell to 2-1 and hosts Marceline in their next outing.
