A face-covering order that has been in place for a few weeks in Johnson County will be changed this week.

According to Johnson County Community Health Services, its Board of Trustees has issued a Public Health Advisory for the county, which will replace the current Face Covering Order beginning 12:01 a.m. on Monday, September 14.

This advisory encourages all individuals to continue wearing a face covering in public places while maintaining social distancing.

Health officials say it is especially important for everyone to avoid large gatherings during this time. They say, “It is with this layered approach, using all these safety precautions together, that will get us back to a more normal way of life.”

Health officials also say businesses and organizations can implement additional safety precautions to help protect employees and customers and continue mitigating the risk.

As of Friday, September 11, there were 885 total positive COVID-19 tests confirmed in Johnson County. With 558 positive patients released from public health isolation as recovered and three deaths, there were 324 active cases.
