After the announcement from Special Prosecutor Stephen Sokoloff that no formal charges will be filed against the Pettis County Sheriff Deputy that shot and killed 25-year-old Hannah Fizer on June 13, Sheriff Kevin Bond issued a response to the Pettis County community.

Sheriff Bond said he learned about the outcome of the special prosecutor’s report late Monday morning.

Bond continued by saying, “During the course of this investigation, both I and the Pettis County Prosecuting Attorney have ensured this matter be handled by professional, independent agencies. This has ensured transparency and thoroughness of the investigation and subsequent prosecutorial review. We at the Sheriff’s Office have allowed the Rule of Law to properly take its course, and we await delivery of the report to complete our internal investigation into the matter.”

Bond wrapped up his message by sending condolences to the Fizer family and encouraged calmness in the community as his office and the community work together to reduce the polarization this emotional and traumatic event has caused.
