A Franklin man is facing a felony following an incident in Howard County on September 7.

Just before 5 p.m. on September 7, Howard County 911 received a call from a residence in the 400 block of Crew Street in Franklin for a female stabbing victim. When authorities arrived, they found 22-year-old Courtney Clardy, deceased, from apparent stab wounds.

The Mid-Missouri Major Case Squad was activated, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Division of Drug and Crime Control was contacted to assist with the investigation and provide additional resources.

Emmett Wood Jr., a 44-year-old, was identified as the suspect and a manhunt ensued. Wood was located in a rural area, south of Glasgow the following day and taken into custody. Wood is charged with a Class A Felony for Murder Second Degree. The Court has ordered no bond in this case.

Wood was arraigned on September 10. A Bond Review Hearing in this case is scheduled to be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 15 at Howard County Circuit Court.
