Court proceedings are scheduled this week for two men charged with murder in Johnson County.

Charged with the murder of 18-year-old Maliyah Lakey, of Warrensburg, on August 1 are 25-year-old Evan R. Lanigan, of Warrensburg, and 28-year-old Christian J. Harrison, of Knob Noster.

The original release from the Warrensburg Police Department said officers were called to a residence in the 400 block of Grover to investigate a shooting. When officers arrived, they discovered three shooting victims. Lakey was dead at the scene from an apparent gunshot wound. A 20-year-old male and a 17-year-old female were transported to an area hospital for treatment of what appeared to be nonlife-threatening injuries from gunshots.

Lanigan has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree, three counts of Armed Criminal Action, two counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Assault in the First Degree and Assault in the Second Degree. Harrison has been charged with Murder in the Second Degree, three counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon, two counts of Assault in the First Degree, two counts of Armed Criminal Action and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (a convicted felon in possession of a firearm). Each is being held without bond.

Harrison was arraigned on August 6 and Lanigan on August 7. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Harrison, and a case review for Lanigan- each at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, September 16, at Johnson County Circuit Court.
